Students Recognized at SMS!
This past week the Stroudsburg Middle School wrapped up recognizing students who have worked hard in reading class. As the last quarter comes to an end, more students were selected to be Outstanding Readers from each reading class. More students were also selected as B.U.G. winners frm each room. These students showed significant progress in bringing their reading grades up.
Almost 500 students were selected this school year as either Outstanding Readers or B.U.G. Award winners. Not only did these students receive free junior burrito coupons from Moe's in Bartonsville, but each quarter 3 students were randomly drawn and won grand prizes valuing around $30 each from Moe's.
On Wednesday, June 2, all award winners from the 2009-2010 school year were recognized with a reward luncheon. Students could choose between a taco bar provided entirely by Moe's or an ice cream sundae bar.
In addition, on Friday, June 4, Moe's came to the Stroudsburg Middle School to present a grand prize to one of the nealy 500 reading award winners. Emma King, a 6th grade student, was randomly chosen and presented with a free junior burrito for a week for a year gift card along with fifty dollars in Moe's gift certificates. Emma King's prize was worth over $400, demonstating Moe's commitment and belief that reading is important. Both the Stroudsburg Middle School and Moe's look forward to continuing this partnership next school year.
