How to Find a Library Book

Fiction:                                              

1. Books are shelved in alphabetical order (first 3 letters of the author's last name).
2. If there are two authors with the same last name, then they are shelved alphabetically by their first names.
3. If one author has written several books, then you look in alphabetical order to the letters in the title.
4. Ignore the words A, An, and The when shelving titles alphabetically.

The Man Who Was Poe	A Place Called Ugly	The Fairy Rebel	Blubber

Avi	Avi	Ban	Blu

Nonfiction:

1. Books are shelved in numerical order. Those numbers to the right of the decimal are in thousandths, and count too.
2. Those with equal Dewey numbers must then be shelved in alphabetical order according to the author (first three letters of the authors last name from the spine label).
