Family and Consumer Science

The FCS program at the Middle School is designed to acquaint students with information about nutrition, child care/babysitting, personal safety and simple sewing.  Students will also through their activities practice cooperating with others, work ethic, organizational skills and creativity.

The following curriculum is delivered for each grade level:

5th Grade

  • Kitchen safety
  • Food pyramid
  • Nutrients
  • Snacking
  • Embroidered pencil case

6th Grade

  • Kitchen safety
  • Breakfast
  • Nutrients
  • Log cabin quilted potholder

7th Grade

  • Babysitting
  • Machine sewing
  • 4-square patchwork pillow

Mrs. Theresa DeHaven

Mrs. DeHavenMrs. Theresa DeHaven has been teaching Family & Consumer Science in the district since 2004.  She has a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University and is also certified to teach Family & Consumer Science.  She has a wonderful fiancee', Jim, and they have five children.  Her hobbies include sewing activities, watching football, gardening and playing with her kids.
